Films, cameras, movie stars and pearls
Red carpet events such as the Grammies and the Oscars usually attract a variety of film stars from both past and present. With a prestigious event, the ladies outfits are the ones which are most documented by the press, so getting the dress right on the red carpet for the women is essential. Many companies will give the star a dress for free, just so that they can get their name out there. Jewellery companies usually loan the stars of the day precious items to wear, necklaces and bracelets made of the finest Tahiti Pearls (Tahiti Perlen) are often loaned. The bigger the Pearls (Perlen) the better, for the star is more likely to be asked about them if they are eye catching.
The Oscars is a prestigious film event which has been running since 1929, the first awards however were not as huge as they are today. They were first hosted at a private Hollywood dinner on May 16th back in 1929. There were less than 1,000 people present at this event. The awards themselves have always been broadcast to the public, this was first done via radio transmition and then via TV from the year 1950 onwards. The awards are also known as the Academy Awards. This is the most prestigious award for a film star and winning one of these little golden men, is everything that a film star aspires to. Being invited to an event like this is even more important in the celebrity world.
Even the stars who haven’t won an award or even been nominated for one, often get to present an award. Last year Jennifer Aniston presented the award for best costume design, she wore a Rocha’s black gown, and accessorised with a diamond necklace which was made of Bulgari’s vintage diamond. This was well documented by the press, hence the jewellers who had loaned this accessory got good advertising by having someone as famous as Jennifer wearing it.
