Gaming was relatively unheard of until the launch of devices such as PS2 and X-Box, these devices are consoles which allow people to play arcade games in the luxury of their own home. The term gaming can relate to other things such as online gambling and internet games. Gaming has moved on a long way from the early days, back in the 1970’s if the term gaming had been mentioned to you, you probably wouldn’t have known what anyone was talking about. The video games which came out for use on the television consisted of two lines and a ball, and was called video tennis. There were no fancy graphics, no realistic features, in fact the first games launched were the most basic games. During the 1980’s games progressed and the Atari was launched. Atari had been around for many years in the arcades on big video machines. Pac Man was a favourite with most kids as was Space Invaders, by today’s standards these games were very tame, but more graphics had been used and the gaming world was progressing. At the latter end of the 1980’s the Sega came out, Sega was famous for Sonic the Hedge Hog. The first Sega – the Master System was a platform game, and the Hedge Hog had to complete various tasks to enable him to move on to the next level. The graphics at the time were seen as revolutionary, but again has nothing on today’s standards.

Things in the gaming world really started to progress when Sega launched their Mega Drive, again these were platform games, but Sonic the Hedge Hog had grown in size and the graphics had got much bigger and better than ever before.  The game took you into to different zones and at the end of each level you would try to keep hold of all your rings during your battle with Dr Robotnic.  Today gaming is all about the best graphic and has become more than a game that you can just play on your own or with a friend.  It has now become a worldwide phenomenon.  Games such as World of Warcraft, Call of Duty, and Grand Theft Auto have global successes.  The potential for meeting your ideal partner online while gaming has become possible too.  People can play their ideal roles online and meet up with many of the dating games available to play, it is even possible to pick up good dating tips and dating tips for women online.
